Street Work
When: Thursdays & Fridays in Farnworth
Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays in Little Lever
It is a sad but true fact that many young people spend their time on the street and drift towards anti-social activities and collecting in large groups, contrary to popular belief however this is not because they are out to annoy or frighten everyone else, mostly it is because of a lack of activities and venues for them to go to and because their parents want them out from under their feet. Our youth workers reguarly spend time on the streets getting to know these young people, finding out what it is that interests them and providing activities and events for them to take part in.
Meeting the young people where they are is also a good way to build relationships and signpost them to activities we are running in our Youth Bars that they may enjoy.
In addition to this, it is our hope that by being seen on a regular basis we are optimistic that those who may find themselves in trouble in the future will know where they can go for help.

The addition of our Mobile Bar has contributed greatly to this work - it is a great attraction and a bonus for the young people in summer and winter alike serving ice-cold and hot drinks. Some of the young people have also started to get involved in runnning the bar alongside staff, enableing them to learn new skills.
