George is autistic and has very little speech, but the enormous look of pride on his face after completing an ambitious layout using our railway kit spoke volumes. He was even prouder when we asked him to pose for a photo with his creation.

George has not been with us very long, but this achievement, and the encouragement of staff, made this a real boost to his confidence, which resulted in him speaking to staff for the first time. Over the coming months we will continue to work closely with George to build up his trust in the staff, and will then be able to encourage him to play alongside other children, with support.

Maybe in a future newsletter we will be able to show you a picture of George working with another child to produce an even more impressive railway layout!
