Sonja attended Zac's as a
young person from the age of 12. When she was 14 she began volunteering as a buddy within the special needs sessions at which she excelled and gained huge respect within the Project from both staff and young people.

After her GCSE's Sonja started a Childcare course at college in
Manchester, alongside this she continued to volunteer at Zac's and also worked as a sessional member of staff across all areas of the project. In 2005 Sonja was awarded the Nationwide Award for Voluntary Endevour a tribute to her commitment to the project and the young people that attend, her hard work and passion.

After college Sonja worked towards an NVQ in youth work whilst continuing her work at Zac's. She then applied for an Assistant youth work position at Zac's working at the Farnworth Project and then in Little Lever as the work started there, again as an Assistant Youth Worker.

In March 2009, Sonja was employed to the post of Transition
& Inclusions Worker at Zac's. She is also the coordinator of our Zacs Teens Sessions. Her job is to maximise inclusion opportunities for young people with special needs within the Project's mainstream and special needs sessions. Sonja is constantly looking for ways to become better at her job and utilises training opportunities when they come available, the recent Team Teach training she recieved has made a huge difference to her approach to work and the Management Development Programme she is currently on with other members of staff is helping her to focus her skills.

In May 2009 became a Christian and acknowledges the changes knowing God has made to her life.

In her spare time Sonja enjoys dancing and watching footie on the TV.
